At Sulphur
River Kennels, our goal is to breed the total retriever-a
hunting companion that can do the work and then come home
to be a valued member of the family, even a full-time
house dog if you desire. We breed for intelligence, trainability,
physical soundness, desire, marking ability, and a good,
all-round attitude. We don't like the crazy, hyper-type
dogs and we definitely don't breed for the large, slow,
unathletic, show types that have little or no desire to
retrieve.
Our program
is geared toward quality, not quantity. This is not a
"puppy mill". We only produce 1-3 litters per year. Our
puppies are not cheap, backyard-type breedings, nor are
they out of the reach of the average sportsman. Expect
to pay $700 and up for a quality puppy. Remember, this
is going to be your hunting companion and friend for the
next 10-14 years.
All SRK litters
come from OFA (hips certified) and CERF (eyes certified)
parents. Each puppy is sold with a written hip/eye guarantee
and has had its dew claws removed by a vet.
